Walk-around Magic
As an alternative to providing a set show, the Astounding Alan can perform his magic throughout an event as small groups drop by a close-up table or as he strolls among the mingling guests. This kind of performance--known today as "walk-around magic"--is up close and intimate, even more astonishing and engaging than traditional shows as the magic happens directly in front of the participants, right before their eyes, and sometimes even in their very own hands!
Some typical events that can benefit from walk-around magic include grand openings, promotions, wedding receptions, office parties, banquets, fairs, and festivals. Walk-around magic gives an added touch that distinguishes an event from the commonplace.
Walk-around magic is also a staple of the "house magician" who performs regularly at a restaurant, shop, or other business for three main purposes:
(1) to provide ongoing promotion for the business;
(2) to enhance the atmosphere or image of a location; and
(3) to supplement hospitality, service, and attraction for customers.
